This language course is designed for staff working in the Student Service Center who need to use English to provide information, advice, referrals, and practical guidance to international students and prospective students at the University of Rostock. It focuses on the vocabulary and communicative functions that are used in everyday work: giving factual information, answering questions, explaining university procedures and requirements, clarifying misunderstandings, advising students on the structure of their studies, counseling students who are experiencing difficulties, writing concise and effective emails, handling telephone calls confidently, using friendly and professional customer-facing language, and managing paperwork for admissions, immatriculation, and re-registration. Participants will be invited to formulate realistic scenarios based on their own experiences and to apply the spoken and written phrases and structures that will be learned in class in role-plays and in emails. The course also includes an introduction to clear and effective written correspondence, to telephone etiquette, and to select grammar topics.
Speaking with Confidence: English Conversation at B1 Level
